Business Development Manager – Advisory (Maritime & Energy)

Location: Oslo or Bergen, Norway

What we’re looking for

We are looking for a commercially driven Business Development Manager to support the growth of our advisory business across the maritime and energy sectors in the North Europe region.

In this position, you will uncover and pursue new business opportunities, cultivate trusted relationships with key industry stakeholders, and design advisory solutions that respond to shifting market, regulatory, and technology needs.

This is a highly client-focused and entrepreneurial role for someone who enjoys building a business pipeline, engaging with senior decision-makers, and collaborating with technical, commercial, and regulatory experts to deliver tailored advisory solutions. You will work at the intersection of maritime decarbonisation, energy transition, and emerging technologies — helping clients navigate change and identify new opportunities.

What we offer

  • The opportunity to help shape and grow an advisory business from an early stage, with significant visibility and direct exposure to senior leadership and industry decision-makers.
  • An engaging and responsive work environment where your efforts support ongoing business growth.
  • The chance to help shape progress in shipping, energy, and technology during a period of decarbonization, regulatory change, and the global energy transition.
  • Full+time permanent role.

The role

As Business Development Manager – Advisory (Maritime & Energy), you will:

  • Develop and execute a business development strategy for advisory services across maritime and energy clients in the North Europe market.
  • Identify, prospect, and engage decision-makers across shipowners, operators, charterers, traders, energy companies, and OEMs / technology providers.
  • Build and maintain relationships with marine equipment manufacturers, including providers of engines, scrubbers, alternative fuel systems, and retrofit technologies, supporting their positioning within evolving compliance and decarbonisation landscapes.
  • Collaborate with energy sector clients, including utilities, commodity traders, oil and gas companies, and participants across the alternative fuel value chain, to uncover advisory opportunities tied to the energy transition and carbon markets.
  • Build, maintain, and grow a robust pipeline of advisory opportunities while collaborating closely with subject matter experts to develop relevant client solutions.
  • Develop client-facing materials, including proposals, presentations, outreach communications, and pitch documents.
  • Represent the business at industry conferences, OEM events, and energy forums to build market visibility, generate leads, and support industry thought leadership.
  • Monitor regulatory, market, and technology developments within maritime decarbonisation and energy transition, translating insights into new advisory opportunities and commercial propositions.
  • Establish and grow relationships with key accounts, including senior executives, C-level stakeholders, and technical leaders across shipping, energy, and technology organisations.
  • Collaborate with leadership teams on account strategy, pipeline development, forecasting, and business development reporting.
  • Support the creation and commercialisation of new advisory offerings, from vessel-level compliance strategies to carbon management and energy transition solutions.

What you bring

  • A degree in maritime, engineering, business, or a related discipline.
  • Several years of experience in business development, sales, consulting, or client-facing advisory roles within maritime, energy, OEM, technology, or related industries.
  • Knowledge of shipping decarbonization requirements and energy transition trends, or the capacity to quickly acquire advanced understanding in these areas.
  • Demonstrated experience building business pipelines and turning opportunities into advisory or consulting engagements.
  • Deep commercial insight and the ability to turn complex regulatory and technical topics into clear business value for clients.
  • Clear and effective written and oral communication skills in English. Norwegian or another Scandinavian language.
  • Capacity to work with minimal oversight in an evolving business environment while maintaining momentum and delivering outcomes.
  • An established network among North European shipowners, operators, charterers, energy companies, or marine and energy technology providers would be highly advantageous.
