What we’re looking for
As part of your role, you will assess the design/production / in-service aspects of engineering assets in the marine environment, using LR’s Rules and Procedures, experience, and knowledge appropriate for routine situations. You would also support the America’s team in delivering our services to our clients with respect to the following activities.

The role
- Surveys and inspections of existing ships, new construction activities through to completion, and routine/repair surveys of in-service vessels
- Conduct ship surveys and provide advice for service delivery within own area of experience while adhering to budget constraints and contractual requirements
- Produce the deliverable within the agreed parameters in a defined format to time, budget, and quality and suggest solutions where appropriate
- Develop reports, certificates, and documents to an agreed format and within agreed timescales
- Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation, and industry standards
- Understand and apply the basic principles of risk management
- Give guidance to other employees, as appropriate, and disseminate information to achieve effective knowledge transfer and application
- Contribute to external client management; ensuring service delivery is continually improved through monitoring and acting on client feedback appropriately
- Ensure the appropriate authorizations are gained and are kept up-to-date. This may involve Activity Monitoring
- Provide good control of projects, including communicating with clients, financial control, and timely and accurate reporting
What you bring
- A degree or equivalent from a tertiary organization recognized by Lloyd’s Register and/or relevant sea-going experience as a certificated ship’s engineer officer.
- Preferably over three years of relevant industry experience in a local or multinational organization
- Certified English proficiency and fluency according to the job requirements and familiar with maritime terminology in English
- Ability to apply appropriate theoretical and practical methods to design, develop, manufacture, construct, commission, operate and maintain engineering products, processes, systems and services
- Understanding of technical and commercial management principles, e.g. project management, process management
- Displays a team spirit, particularly in a multicultural environment and ability to work both independently and as part of a team with colleagues in person and around the world.
