Job Overview:

This position will be based in Ottawa, Canada

The Naval Business Manager will be responsible for maintaining and growing Lloyd’s Register’s position in the Americas Naval Business. Based in the Naval Liaison Office, the Naval Business Manager will lead a team to effectively manage client relationships, mature and execute business strategies, and ensure responsive service delivery. The Naval Business Manager must provide and foster thought leadership into naval products and services with an aim to providing growth through strategic partnerships with current and future clients. 

About this role:

Primary duties of this role include ensuring that the naval business is managed effectively through the Naval Liaison Office (across Americas M&O geography). Support strategic development and implementation of Naval business across the Americas.  Establish and maintain the infrastructure around which the Naval Business is delivered, including the develop and support of the naval regulatory framework, entry into classification, new construction, in-service, safety management and the Grey Boat Code. You will also drive operational performance of the Naval Liaison Office against defined metrics. Support and drive the sales function to increase overall sales within the Naval business (across North, Central and South America).  Lead, manage and develop the Naval Liaison team to maintain an effective and competitive service.  This includes recruitment, performance management and training and development.

You will have:

  • A degree or equivalent from a tertiary organisation recognised by Lloyd’s Register within the relevant field of engineering or physical science (minimum of two years programme) or qualifications from a marine or nautical institution and relevant sea-going experience as a certificated ship’s officer.
  • Membership of an appropriate professional institution
  • Experience in the Naval sector
  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status
  • Proficiency in the English Language commensurate with the work
  • Proven experience of successfully managing a team
  • Good knowledge of financial and budgetary setting
