We are seeking an experienced Manager, Naval Safety & Risk Management to lead the development and maintenance of robust Naval Safety management frameworks while supporting the strategic growth of Lloyd’s Register (LR) within the defense and government sectors across the Americas.
In this role, you will lead a small, highly specialised team, applying your deep expertise in safety and risk management to support naval clients in developing policies and frameworks aligned with marine best practices and regulatory requirements. While your initial focus will be on new naval construction, you will play a critical role in shaping Safety Assurance approaches across the entire naval vessel life cycle — from design through to decommissioning.
Your work will directly contribute to LR’s mission of enhancing safety, performance, and trust in the naval and maritime sectors.
What we offer you
The opportunity to work for an organisation with a strong sense of purpose, driven by values and a commitment to a safer world.
A full-time, permanent role within a globally recognised classification society, operating at the forefront of maritime and naval safety.
The opportunity to influence safety standards and frameworks within complex defense and government programs.
A collaborative, international working environment that supports professional growth, leadership development, and knowledge sharing.
The role
Leadership & Team Management:
Lead, mentor, and develop a small team of safety professionals, providing expert technical guidance to both clients and internal stakeholders. Ensure all deliverables meet or exceed agreed schedule, budget, and quality standards.

Strategic Growth & Market Expansion:
Support Lloyd’s Register’s strategic expansion within global defense and government sectors, contributing to business development initiatives and long-term growth objectives.
Expert Safety Advisory:
Provide authoritative safety and risk management advice across the naval vessel life cycle, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, standards, and safety objectives.
Commercial & Contract Management:
Oversee the full contract lifecycle, including preparation of technical proposals, quotations, task execution, and delivery for both internal and external stakeholders.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement:
Engage regularly with clients at senior levels, presenting complex safety solutions, addressing technical queries, and coordinating input from global subject matter experts.
Knowledge Sharing & Mentorship:
Promote a culture of technical excellence by reviewing team performance, mentoring colleagues, and contributing to LR’s internal technical forums and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
