About this role:

 

To support the Naval Liaison Office (Ottawa) Program Managers in delivering in-service and new construction work to the Department of National Defence (DND). As a key engager with our stakeholders, the workplace will include client offices in the National Capital Region and hence the ability to achieve a security clearance with Canada is required.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Provide technical support to DND Stakeholders in the area of Classification within the Naval Materiel Regulatory Framework; this can include but is not limited to:

•  Dealing with arising technical issues

•  Monitoring the certification status of vessels and advising when surveys are due

•  Recording and tracking departures to certification requirements

•  Providing advice on new technologies and their application to DND vessels

•  Identifying and developing processes to support Classification requirements

•  Conducting research as required

 

Requirements:

  • Engineering degree form a tertiary organization recognized by LR within the relevant field of engineering or physical science.  Equivalent work experience in the related field will also be considered
  • Minimum 2 years relevant experience
  • Good understanding of Classification/Statutory processes and environment
  • Good understanding of the Government marine environment
  • Membership in an appropriate professional institution (or the ability to become a member)
  • Ability to work in accordance with professional codes of conduct and the LR Code of Ethics in IMS01
  • Ability to use a combination of general and specialist engineering knowledge and understanding to apply existing and emerging technology
  • Ability to apply appropriate theoretical and practical methods to design, develop, manufacture, construct, commission, operate and maintain engineering products, processes, systems and services
  • Awareness of technical and commercial management processes (e.g. project management, process management, quality management)
  • Effective communications in written and spoken English with the ability to prepare discuss and present deliverables to a client at a senior level
  • Good communication skills (including technical report writing), the ability to work to tight deadlines and adaptability
