About the role

The primary focus for this role is to provide classification and statutory services to cargo ships and undertake client relationship management duties on behalf of LR for specific local clients and Flag Administrations.   The Role is primarily based in Panama but you may travel within Central America, Colombia and Venezuela, depending on specific business needs. 

   

Meanwhile, you will pursue continuous professional development to remain fully knowledgeable about the technical considerations that are pertinent to our clients. You will assess all risks and work in a safe manner at all times, reporting in a timely manner all incidents including near miss and safety observations.

 

Experience & qualification requirements:

Our ideal candidate will be an experienced senior surveyor; we are open to consider promising prospects with lesser experience.

 

  • 5 years minimum work experience as an Existing Ship Surveyor for an IACS classification society, technical superintendent, shipyard engineer or similar.
  • Demonstrated experience managing client relationships.
  • A degree or equivalent within a relevant field of study such as marine engineering.
  • Ability to travel within Panama, the Caribbean, Colombia and Venezuela.
  • Organizational and planning skills, ability to prioritize to meet deadlines.
  • Intermediate or advanced experience using MS Office suite of products: Word, Excel, Outlook
  • To work in accordance with the highest professional codes of conduct.
  • To use a combination of general and specialist engineering knowledge and understanding to optimise the application of existing and emerging technology.
  • To be able to apply appropriate theoretical and practical methods to the analysis and solution of engineering problems.
  • To provide technical and commercial leadership within the responsibilities assigned.
  • Proficiency in the English language commensurate with the work.
