What we’re looking for
We are looking for a Senior Surveyor to join our Team in Georgia or South Carolina. This is a great oppurtunity to expand a career working with a great Team who truly live the LR values. The work is mainly in-service ship surveys with additional activties of repair/dry-dock and new construction as well as exposure the offshore equipment surveys.

Responsibilities
- Perform survey of ships in order to guarantee the compliance with US and international safety and security regulations and offshore installations safety critical system under Classification and Verification schemes.
- Communicating with clients, financial control, and timely and accurate reporting and also monitor and review quality metrics for the team, suggesting and implementing recommendations for continual improvement.
- Share your expertise with each other, with Lloyd’s Register’s clients, and with all of Lloyd’s Register’s stakeholders to support them and achieve the compliance with US and international maritime regulations. This includes working with: Classification Society; knowledge of statutory regulations concerning the Flag of marine vessel; ability to make decisions about alternative means to comply with regulations, including audits implementations and verification of safety management system, ship security, maritime labor, and shipboard quality, environmental and occupational health managements; practical field experience with marine equipment and structures; working with ship’s hull & structure, surveys of ship’s hull damage and repairs, surveys of ship’s dry docking and bottoms; and ship’s machinery, including surveys of main and auxiliary engines, boilers and pressure vessels, screwshafts, propellers and propulsion systems, electrical equipment and control engineering. Travel required at least 20%.
What you bring
- A degree or equivalent from a tertiary organization recognized by Lloyd’s Register and/or relevant sea-going experience as a certificated ship’s engineer officer.
- Preferably over three years of relevant industry experience in a local or multinational organization
- Certified English proficiency and fluency according to the job requirements and familiar with maritime terminology in English
- Ability to apply appropriate theoretical and practical methods to design, develop, manufacture, construct, commission, operate and maintain engineering products, processes, systems and services
- Understanding of technical and commercial management principles, e.g. project management, process management
- Displays a team spirit, particularly in a multicultural environment and ability to work both independently and as part of a team with colleagues in person and around the world.
