What we’re looking for
As a Marine Equipment & Components (MEC) Surveyor with Lloyd’s Register, you will join our team in the Czech Republic, based in Prague, supporting clients across the marine and offshore manufacturing sectors. You will apply your engineering expertise to assess and confirm the quality of materials, equipment, and components intended for marine applications, primarily at manufacturers’ works and laboratories.
This is a client-facing, technically focused role where you will contribute directly to safety, compliance, and risk-based decision-making across the industry.

The role
You will:
-
Conduct surveys of materials, equipment and components intended for marine applications at manufacturers’ works and laboratories.

Understand and interpret national and international rules and regulations applicable for marine and offshore assets.
-
Apply basic principles of risk management when delivering technical services.
-
Provide strong project control including client communication, financial control, and timely reporting.
-
Produce deliverables within agreed parameters, to time, budget, and quality standards.

Present findings to internal and external clients and suggest solutions where appropriate.

Deliver work in line with internal procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation, and industry standards.

Pursue Continuous Professional Development and maintain a high level of discipline, technical knowledge, and awareness.

Support fee estimation activities by assessing the time and value of work for external clients.

Provide guidance to other employees and support knowledge sharing across the team.

Communicate client feedback to support continuous service delivery improvement.

Ensure required authorisations are gained and kept up to date.

Complete routine administration in line with current processes.

Work safely at all times, implementing health and safety rules and refusing work that compromises safety or health.

Report incidents, near misses, and safety observations in a timely manner and raise concerns with your line manager.
What you bring
-
A degree (or equivalent) from a tertiary organisation recognised by Lloyd’s Register in a relevant engineering or physical science field, or qualifications from a marine/nautical institution as a material, mechanical, or marine engineer (B.Eng./B.Sc./M.Eng./M.Sc. or equivalent), and/or relevant sea-going experience as a certificated ship’s officer.

Knowledge of materials including (but not limited to): steel grades, castings, forgings, and welding.

Ability to apply a combination of general and specialist engineering knowledge to optimise the use of existing and emerging technology.

Strong capability to apply theoretical and practical methods to solve engineering problems.

Ability to provide technical and commercial leadership within assigned responsibilities.

Strong interpersonal skills and effective communication.

Fluency in English is essential.

The Czech language is an advantage.
Desirable (optional) qualifications:
-
Welding Engineer qualification (EWE/IWE) or equivalent.

NDE/NDT ISO 9712 Level II (UT or MT or PT or VT).
