As part of this role, you will work on a shift basis, providing essential support to the vessel routing process around the clock, 24/7/365. This role involves aiding Route Advisors with route planning, voyage optimization, and weather routing to ensure compliance with customer contracted time requirements.

The role
- This role involves close collaboration with internal stakeholders, including LR Shared services Wx teams/ FM & IMS Support teams, MIP model interface teams supporting the Vessel routing specialist to optimize and create safe, economical and sustainable routing solutions for all types of seagoing vessels contracted by our global customers.
- Manages internal communication utilizing Salesforce and Microsoft Teams to monitor, log communications, and share key updates with Route Advisors, ensuring efficient information flow.
- Ensure customer communication is streamlined and adheres to contracted SLAs by tracking violations in the system. Feed this information to the routing or senior routing specialist for corrective actions.
- Communicates with vessel operators and ship masters as directed, ensuring a clear and unambiguous understanding of our routing processes, SOPs, and customer requirements.
- Using our internal weather forecasting system, tools and information, prepares and sends weather updates, tropical storm alerts, and port forecasts to vessels under the routing specialist's supervision
- Assist with analysing data from vessel event reports (EOSP, NOON AT SEA, SOSP, etc.), ensuring validation as required under the direction of the Head of Technical Optimization.
- Support the routing specialist to ensure all contracted vessels under live routing comply with safety, security, and pollution prevention policies. Mark and highlight the relevant areas on routing, monitoring, and tracking applications as required
- Agree to work on rotational shift basis including night shifts.
- Contributes to the team's success through a consistent, professional work ethic, collaboration, and process improvement, emphasizing teamwork, personal competence and skill development, and positive customer outcomes.
What you bring
- Preferably from a sailing background as junior deck officers ( 2nd officer) with seagoing experience as a marine deck officer, including 1 to 3 years of rank experience.
- Staff with strong Communication, Marine and analytical skills with good knowledge of MS Office applications, Power BI and similar tools.
- Expertise in using on-board weather routing programs (SPOS, BON VOYAGE, FLEET MANAGER, IMS) is a prerequisite.
- Broad understanding of marine operations, ship management processes, weather routing, route optimization, speed efficiency, and bunker optimization.
- Strong stakeholder management, creative thinking, and a persuasive mindset with a “can-do” attitude. Previous shore experience is an advantage but not required.
- Individuals willing to work in 24/7 shifts including a rotational night shift.
