About this role:

The focus for this role will be to support existing ship surveys in all Brazilian ports, for both domestic and foreign flag vessels, as well as future offshore surveys.   Meanwhile, you will pursue continuous professional development to remain fully knowledgeable about the technical considerations that are pertinent to clients, and merge that with a deep understanding of classification society rules, offshore regulations and relevant international standards.

You will always assess all risks and work in a safe manner, reporting in a timely manner all incidents including near miss and safety observations.

You will have:

  • A minimum of 20 years’ experience working in the marine industry, including surveyor and auditor experience.  Having previous shipowner experience is an asset.
  • Significant technical competence with ships in service and technical management of fleets.
  • Knowledge of passenger vessels, tankers, bulk carriers and cargo ships, offshore supply vessels. Previous jobs as surveyor on Classification Society is an asset.
  • A degree or equivalent within a relevant field of engineering study.
  • Thorough understanding of the local marine and offshore environment.
  • Ability to participate in and add value to technical discussions with clients and LR colleagues.
  • Organizational and planning skills, ability to prioritize to meet deadlines.
  • Intermediate or advanced experience using MS Office suite of products: Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Experience as a Class Society surveyor would be an advantage.
  • Experience with Marine Management Systems would be an advantage.
  • Fluency in English and Portuguese is demanded
