Electrical and Control Engineer Surveyor (Dutch / English Speaker)


The Role


Performing outdoor survey on ships and offshore constructions and perform plan approval of the plans for these ships/units for new builds and existing units and dealing with modifications of these ships/units.

You will be at the contact point for in-service clients to organize/coordinate/plan/project control/timesheet versus budget in full on mainly the electrical side of it on components and system level and all within the attendances in your assigned area. You will ensure constant service delivery and good customer experience together with other team of Surveyors which can include Electrical & Control Surveyors also. And support or help other Electrical & Control surveyors when they need extra hand.

Understanding our client’s needs, you will be continuously on the lookout for process improvements and open for organizational and procedural changes, to ensure the quality and margin on the contracted products or services.


What are you going to do?


  • Perform plan approval review on electrical & control & functional side software plans.
  • Perform risk analysis in the plans proposed on components and system level and during witnessing tests in factories and on board of ships and offshore units.
  • Certify and witness test of electrical & control & functional side software during factory acceptance and on-board new build ships or modifications on board.
  • Perform project management of electrical & control & functional side software on all aspects of time, budget, extra work, expedite to client when work stalls
  • Certify and witness type approval of components electrical & control & functional side software when contracted, on aspects of survey and plan approval
  • Attend vessel and mobile offshore units during Sea Acceptance trails
  • Conduct survey activities in line with internal procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation, and industry standards.
  • Advice on specific projects, internal and external, questions received from clients & LR colleagues
  • Set the standards for, and tirelessly comply with, all technical procedures.
  • Driver to make the world a bit better on safety, efficiency.


What do we ask from you?


  • Professional education: The candidate should have a chartered degree in electrical & Control engineering or equivalent from a tertiary organization recognized by Lloyd’s Register
  • Able to lead and develop a team and to ensure high standard of delivered service
  • To have Excellent cooperation and communication skills with own team and with other internal and external stakeholders
  • To have Strong customer orientation, to be Responsive and pro-active
  • Commercial awareness, to understand customers’ businesses and their requirements
  • Structured and well-organized working style, attention to detail and data correctness.
  • Strong knowledge of technical and procedural standards and requirements related to Class and Statutory Surveys used in Marine and Offshore.
  • Must Have - Proficiency in the English Language (written and oral) Dutch Language (written and oral) to commensurate with the work and an ability to write clear and detailed technical reports, guidelines, and proposals.
  • Good knowledge about computer systems, electrical distribution systems, drive systems.
  • Performing short circuit calculations (AC and DC) and able to read load balance.
  • Sound technical skills in construction design and cables and circuit breakers, plc’s, and materials.
  • Good knowledge of motors/generator designs and associated starter equipment.
  • Experience in including MATLAB or SPICE or equivalent simulation programs.
  • Experience in neural networks.
