What we’re looking for 

 

We are looking for a Senior Specialist for the NL Flag Service Desk in Rotterdam, this is a replacement position due to an upcoming retirement.

The NL Flag Service Desk team consists of a Senior Specialist and a Coordinator, dealing with daily Flag State cases, for Netherlands, Curaçao and Danish Flag. Fluent Dutch and English skills are required.

The role 

 

  • Work as a senior member of the Service Delivery team in Rotterdam dealing with daily technical Flag queries (Netherlands, Curaçao and Denmark).
  • Leading the team of NL Flag Service Desk as line manager.
  • Assess technical queries and preparing constructive cases for submission to Flag administration for consideration.
  • Discuss and present the deliverable with the internal / external clients and be able to suggest solutions where appropriate.
  • Build and maintain a good relationship with Flag contacts, clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Keep up to date knowledge of IMO statutory regulations and Flag interpretations.
  • Maintain relevant flag Country Files and organize necessary updates in liaison with internal Flag State Department.
  • Provide specialist technical advice to internal and external clients for Flag related matters at a senior level.
  • Pursue Continuous Professional Development and maintain a high degree of discipline, knowledge, and awareness.

 

 

  What you bring 

 

  • A degree or equivalent from a recognised organisation within the relevant field of engineering or physical science or qualifications from a marine or nautical institution and relevant sea-going experience.
  • Knowledge of IMO statutory regulations and Conventions.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant work experience as surveyor.
  • Pragmatic work attitude.
  • Representative behavioral competencies.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Fluent in Dutch and English both spoken and written.
