The Rotterdam Technical Support Office is a major plan appraisal centre covering the needs of the clients not only locally but also abroad with ships being constructed worldwide. Our activities are characterized by a great diversity in terms of projects and types of ships (Yachts, Tugs, Cargo Ships,  Inland Waterway Ships as well as Dredgers, Pipe-laying ships, Semi-submersibles, SPS ships, Catamarans and Fast patrol crafts, etc).

Our objective is to provide our clients with the best possible service and hence maximise the added value for our clients. The Rotterdam Technical Support Office is active in the fields of Structures, Engineering, Electrical and Control Engineering, Fire & Safety and Stability.


What are you going to do?

In this varied role you will be responsible for the design appraisal (and in some cases also consultancy) of the ship Fire and Safety aspects against various Statutory Codes, Lloyd’s Register Rules and Regulations and International/National Standards for both new construction and conversions projects. The work is office based but you will occasionally be required local traveling to shipyards and you might be requested to take part in negotiations or meetings with shipyards, flag administration and kick-off meetings with clients.

Furthermore, the role includes also Plan Appraisal Project Management for a number of projects


Technical/Professional Qualifications/Requirements:

• A degree or equivalent from a tertiary organisation recognised by Lloyd’s Register within the relevant field of engineering or physical science (minimum of two years programme) or Qualifications from a marine or nautical institution and relevant sea-going experience as a certificated ship’s officer

• Proficiency in the English Language commensurate with the work.

• Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience

• Knowledge and experience with the application of Statutory Codes like SOLAS, FSS Code, SPS Code, FTP Code, LSA Code, COLREG, IBC Code and similar.
