What we’re looking for

We are looking for a customer-focused Specialist TSO with experience in ship structures, plan approval, shipbuilding, or classification activities. The ideal candidate combines solid technical knowledge with a pragmatic, service-oriented approach, enjoys working closely with clients and stakeholders, and is motivated to support the growth of Lloyd's Register's European Inland Waterway business through high-quality technical delivery, responsiveness, and continuous improvement.

A full-time permanent role

 

The role

  • Conduct hull structure plan appraisal for Inland Waterway vessels, supporting both new construction and in-service projects.
  • Review structural drawings and provide timely technical feedback to clients and project stakeholders.
  • Support plan approval activities and respond to urgent technical queries.
  • Collaborate with project managers, surveyors, brokers, and internal teams throughout project delivery.
  • Contribute to project coordination and administrative activities in line with office procedures.
  • Support improvement initiatives related to IWW Rules, software tools, AI-driven efficiency, and knowledge management.
  • Participate in the development of future technical capabilities within the Inland Waterway segment.
  • Build skills across additional plan approval disciplines through training and mentoring.
  • Support a wide range of vessel types, including tankers, passenger vessels, conversions, and alternative fuel projects.

 

What you bring

  • BSc or MSc in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in ship structures, plan approval, shipbuilding, ship design, or classification activities.
  • Solid technical understanding of vessel structural assessment and marine engineering principles.
  • Effective English writing and speaking skills.
  • Ability to provide clear, responsive, and customer-focused technical support.
  • Highly effective at organizing tasks and handling several priorities at once in a changing work setting..
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively with clients, colleagues, and external stakeholders.
  • Commitment to quality, continuous improvement, and professional development.

 

Nice to have

  • Dutch language skills.
