Overview

 

Lloyd's Register’s South Asia Technical Support Office (Singapore) is looking for an experienced specialist (structure) for carrying out plan approval works related to ships/marine structures.

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Perform design appraisal of hull structural plans of new build and existing ships in accordance with Lloyd’s Register Classification Rules and applicable International/National technical standards for small/ medium sized ships built of Steel/Aluminium/Composite. Candidate is also required to perform stability aspects of ships occasionally.

  

  • Provide technical advice / guidance to internal/external clients on matters relating to Lloyd’s Register Rules, International and Flag requirements in areas of technical expertise.

 

  • Discuss / present the deliverables with the internal / external clients and be able to suggest alternative solutions where appropriate

 

  • Engage in Rule developmental activities and global technology projects as necessary

 

  • Manage and oversee project schedules, financial tracking plus associated project documentation and supporting compliance with all legal, statutory and regulatory requirements

 

  • Engage in presentations and meetings with internal and external Clients on technical matters.

 

  • Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of up-to-date industry knowledge and awareness.

 

Job Requirements

 

 

  • Degree in Naval Architecture/Ship Structures, or equivalent academic qualification from a recognised institution.

 

  • Minimum of 5-8 years’ professional experience in design appraisal / design development for ships /Marine structures.

 

  • Proficiency & experience with marine structures of small/medium sized vessels, high speed crafts of steel/ aluminium/Composite built. 

 

  • Experience in structural analysis (FEA) of ship structures and working knowledge on any prominently used FE software.

 

  • Membership from an appropriate professional institution

 

  • Ability to apply appropriate theoretical and practical methods to the analysis and solution of complex engineering problems

 

  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills including communication in English at all levels
