The Role

 

As a classification society, Lloyd's Register is an essential link in the overall safety chain of the Maritime industries. We’re regulatory experts, but our work extends far beyond legislation. To achieve their goals, our clients need to manage risk with confidence. Our classification service sets out to provide that increased confidence by helping identify risks associated with a client's operation through the direct application of our classification Rules and statutory requirements.  Where risks are identified, local surveyors are on the spot to apply their knowledge, experience and skills to provide a range of practical solutions


What You’ll Do:

 

  • You will support our external clients and key stakeholders to ensure the safety and compliance of their assets, whilst seeking any opportunity to add value to their operation.
  • You will use your engineering expertise and knowledge to resolve complex challenges and problems.
  • You will learn to understand and interpreting national and international rules and regulations applicable for marine assets.
  • You will be part of a team working to understand new technologies within the Maritime Industry, this will involve collaborative working with other industry stakeholders to develop new Classification Rules.
  • Working with our Client Care teams, you will be able to inspire our clients to adopt new innovative approaches tailored to their requirements.
  • With increasing tenure, you will assume more responsibility and ownership for your own projects and work delivery.
  • You will have every opportunity to expand your knowledge through continuous professional development, working in different areas of the Maritime industry.


What You’ll Need:

 

  • MUST have: Proven ability to communicate complex ideas clearly (written and spoken) in English
  • MUST have: Authorization/permit to Work in the respective country
  • A combination of general and specialist engineering knowledge and understanding to apply to existing and emerging technology.
  • A degree or equivalent from a tertiary organisation within the relevant field of engineering or physical science or qualifications from a marine or nautical institution and relevant sea-going experience as a certificated ship’s officer.
  • Strong analytical, conceptual, and creative problem-solving skills combined with an entrepreneurial “can-do” mindset
  • Team player mindset with strong interpersonal skills and willingness to travel across the region and internationally
