As part of its exciting growth, Digital Products is seeking an experienced Software Test Manager for the Marine software division.

The Test Manager will have oversight of all software testing within the Marine Software division of Digital Products and will take on direct management of a growing team. They will ensure that best practice is applied to methodology, reporting and execution, ensuring the quality of software releases. They will work closely with the Marine Software Programme Manager and Product Leads to ensure alignment with all other product delivery disciplines.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership – provide leadership and direction to the Marine Software Testing Team
  • Testing – identify and meet demand for testing, define and maintain test strategies and plans 
  • Delivery & Quality Management – responsible for leading the team and supporting assigned work packages to deliver work to agreed timescales and quality 
  • Performance Management & Improvement – Contribute to the continual improvement of testing team and methods
  • Technical & Commercial Knowledge – maintains an understanding of Marine Software applications, architecture, and technologies together with a good awareness of the Maritime Business (and others as appropriate), Lloyd’s Registers customers and commercial activities
  • Oversee allocation and control of QA team resources, supported by Marine Software Programmer Manager and Marine Software team leaders 
  • Recommend new methodologies and test tools to ensure LR Digital Products remains at the cutting edge of DevOps approaches
  • Recommend skillsets for hiring new testing to ensure we build the right teams
  • Responsible for the management and performance of all staff in their team, ensuring the team have the relevant level of resources, skills & experience to meet the business needs. Performing 1-2-1s, proactively dealing with people issues, staff motivation & development
  • Participate in test execution ensure deadlines are met
  • Be a part of an ongoing effort to bring new testing knowledge into the teams to ensure skills are up to date.
  • Proactively use and contribute to quality standards across Digital Products
  • Engage and advise with the VP of QA on DP-wide test strategy
  • Report to the Marine Software Programme Manager on the progress of testing and the quality status of the software applications in development.


Technical / Professional Qualifications / Requirements:

  • ISTQB qualified. Specific test management experience/qualifications would be an advantage
  • Experience with Azure DevOps Test Plans would be a distinct advantage
  • Shall possess sufficient relevant previous working experience as a test leader to demonstrate comprehensive understanding of the relevant specialist requirements
  • Experience of quality assurance and testing of engineering desktop applications and cloud-based applications, including automated testing. Experience of testing within a continuous deployment cycle would be an advantage
  • Experience in a Maritime working environment is not a necessity but would be an advantage.
