As QA Engineer you’ll be the gatekeeper of what’s good enough for our customers – and what’s not. You’ll use your expertise to test the quality and performance of what our Scrum teams produce. Big data. Big compute cloud applications. Big responsibility.

QA Engineer’s key responsibilities:

  • Work with stakeholders (product owners, developers, engineers and testers) to implement testing requirements into well-designed software solutions with an eye on scalability, quality, performance and maintainability 
  • Test and prove that the software meets major architectural requirements and ensure the quality and performance of the system as a whole 
  • Develop and automate tests for software validation, detect bug issues and report them accurately
  • Estimate test development and debug efforts and be able to prioritise tests, based on quality impact. 
  • Ideate and test new ways of improving existing software designs and solutions aiming for higher performance in terms of speed, data size and simulation time  
  • Collaborate with the development team to plan, design, develop, test, and maintain embedded applications within the product 
  • Participate in Agile development activities, attending daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint review and sprint retrospective meetings
  • Effectively understand, capture, interpret and break down customer’s needs with the support of architect, subject matter expert and the product owner
  • Effectively estimate tasks and ensure delivery of sprints based on these timescales 
  • Proactively contribute to improvements in the team’s agile process 
  • Proactively contribute to the technical development of other testers 

 

As QA Engineer you’ll have:

  • Qualification in natural sciences, mathematics, computer science, or engineering  
  • Experience in software testing or similar role, preferably with experience of scientific and engineering applications  
  • Good level of experience in TDD, BDD, Test automation and, creating and maintaining unit tests including mocking 
  • Experience of product development, where you have worked with members within an Agile development environment; awareness of Agile software development values and principles; experience in using Scrum frameworks 
  • Proactive self-starter; self-organised with a team-player attitude; strive to learn more and new skills; able to roll up your sleeves and help any team member when needed 
  • Good communication and influencing skills; good presentation and time management skills  
  • Excellent and demonstratable analytical and problem-solving skills 
  • Perform in a high-pressure environment with changing priorities 
  • A genuine interest and curiosity for all things digital and data, and for digital transformation of traditional practices in the maritime industry
