The role will involve carrying out qualitative and quantitative risk analyses to support Maritime Clients with the management of their risks, including the assessment of novel technologies and systems to assist them with their decarbonisation and digitalisation journey.

 

Responsibilities

  • To support projects within the Maritime Performance Services (MPS) Hazard, Risk & Reliability Team. This could include:
  • Assisting the Facilitator / Chairperson with qualitative risk studies (e.g. HAZIDs, HAZOPs, FMEAs) including Scribing.
  • Supporting clients with alternative design & arrangement projects through the application of Lloyd’s Register’s Risk Based Certification (RBC) Process.
  • Performing Quantitative Risk Assessments (QRAs).
  • To conduct activities in line with internal procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation, and industry standards.
  • To establish, develop and maintain long-term client relationships, through the resolution of their technical challenges through a combination of problem solving activities, collaborating with LR’s team of global specialists.
  • To develop technical proposals for clients, including estimated costs and timescales for delivery, and ensuring these are continually reviewed and monitored through the project planning and execution phases.
  • To expand on or develop business opportunities to offer clients and where necessary present / promote these internally and externally.
  • To pursue Continuous Professional Development and maintain a high degree of integrity, knowledge and awareness.

 

To be considered

  • A degree or equivalent from a tertiary organisation recognised by Lloyd’s Register within the relevant field of engineering, risk management or physical science (minimum of two years programme) or Qualifications from a marine or nautical institution and relevant sea-going experience as a certificated ship’s officer.
  • Membership of an appropriate professional institution, working towards achieving Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status.
  • An interest and knowledge of qualitative and quantitative risk assessment techniques.
  • Would suit candidates who have recently completed their education or those who have a couple of years’ experience working within the maritime, offshore or similar industry.
  • Customer focussed, proactive and highly motivated to support the LR Teams and clients, by meeting (sometimes challenging) deadlines and regularly updating them on progress
  • Strong team-working and interpersonal skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Proficiency in the English Language commensurate with the work, with the ability to produce comprehensive and detailed written reports.
  • Good IT skills / programming experience would be considered a plus
  • Knowledge of and Risk Software (e.g. PHA Pro / RISK CURVES / EFFECTS / FLACS / PHAST / SAFETI). (desirable)
