An exciting opportunity exists to join a flexible, dynamic and motivated team within Lloyd’s Register’s Ship Emergency Response Service(SERS), the pioneering service, which was the first of its kind and has been in operation for more than 30 years, that provides round the clock access to technical advice for the maritime community in the event that of a shipboard emergency such as flooding, grounding, explosion or a loss in stability, etc


To provide range of technical and administrative support against defined procedures with some discretion over priorities of workload, including assisting in the resolution of work-related queries as directed by Line Manager. May include delegation and monitoring of other’s work.



  • Prioritise and process requests for documentation/data/information from internal and external clients in accordance with SERS business requirements, processes and agreed deadlines.
  • Prioritise and process documentation/data/information received into discrete work packages for the ship modelling team in accordance with SERS business requirements, processes and agreed deadlines, including maintaining relevant SERS database fields/entries and conduct of sister ship checks.
  • Assist with the co-ordination and monitoring of work being carried out by the ship modelling sub-contractors, including issuing of work packages and processing work orders, purchasing orders and invoicing.
  • Develop excellent communication and business relationships with internal and external sources of ship plans and data, including liaison with shipyards and processing confidentiality agreements and invoicing, answering and resolving enquiries and queries
  • Participate in ship modelling activities such as reviewing and updating model reports following changes in vessel owners.
  • Assist with the coordination and preparation of responses to requests for estimates, technical scopes of work and project programmes.
  • Identify and suggest improvements to administration processes and procedures. Assist Senior Administrator/ managers with the implementation of new administrative processes and procedures within the team.
  • Review & analyse data to provide management information/statistics, including the identification and reporting of process failures, to support the overall delivery of processes.
  • To coach other team members, as appropriate, to achieve effective knowledge transfer and application.


To be considered

  • To have completed secondary education or equivalent with Maths & English at Grade C or above.

  • PC literate, high proficiency in MS Office suite software

  • Knowledge and experience in database applications
  • Good telephone manner and comfortable dealing with clients
  • Ability to perform in a high-pressure environment with changing priorities and flexible responsibilities
  • Previous experience of working within a technical office environment.
