The Software test analyst will ensure that all LR product testing requirements are met to the appropriate standards. The Software Test Analyst will work closely with the Test Manager, as part of the testing team.

 

The software test analyst will monitor and input during supplier team development, then audit and validate the outputs presented to for release.   This testing can include validation of security, performance, functional and non-functional requirements, with the aim of propagating software releases through to the Lloyds Register business users and clients with high confidence of functional integrity and low risk of regression issues following both agile and hybrid agile methodologies.

 

This is a hands-on role as a member of the LR in service test team where the role holder will be expected to drive day-to-day testing activities on the products as deemed necessary, ranging from test case creation to defect tracking and reporting. The role will incorporate a significant amount of engagement and management of 3rd party supplier relationships.

 

The Software Test analyst will have a good understanding of both agile and waterfall development methodologies and the role of testing (in development, applications and infrastructure), taking a systematic and analytical approach to problem solving, paying close attention to detail.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manual Test planning and execution for manual Functional and non-functional testing, Performance testing, Integration testing, End to end testing, as guided by the Test Strategy and the Test Manager.
  • Adopt and Enhance LR approved automation tools (Microfocus UFT and Qualitia Test automation toolsets) with the goal of improving efficiency and throughput of testing with the efficient use of automation. (Possibility for training and on the job learning of these techniques.)
  • Oversee and participate in vendor software deliveries to ensure early detection of errors. Work towards a TDD approach by defining LR test expectations and test cases at the software planning stage
  • Ensure that suitable test scripts and reports are produced in line with the test plan
  • Ensuring that appropriate test tools are in place and used effectively, using recommended tools as confirmed by the LR Test Manager.
  • Working with suppliers to ensure that we have appropriate test environments and test data in place to support the test plans.
  • Produce re-usable regression test packs, with test automation where possible
  • Working with Stakeholders, from the LR business, and the 3rd party development supplier, to ensure adequate coverage of testing is completed at each test level, with regard to current or new risk factors and timing requirements for delivery
  • Create execute and report against test plans, suites and cases in ADO tool
  • Assess the risks and work in a safe manner at all times, robustly implementing health and safety rules, instructions and systems and refuse to undertake work that compromises your safety or health.
  • Report in a timely manner all incidents including near miss and safety observations (NMSO), accidents and injuries and raise any health and safety concerns with your line manager.

 

Technical / Professional Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Certified to ISTQB or equivalent
  • Excellent understanding of Agile development methodology
  • Minimum 2 years continuous experience at test analyst/engineer level ideally using agile methodology
  • Experience with test automation techniques. Ability to read and write basic automated test scripts, Most ideally familiar with UFT and/or Qualitia tooling (scriptless automation tool)
  • Experience of working with multiple 3rd party vendor development and delivery teams
  • Ability to develop strong relationships across teams and with third party suppliers
  • Good understanding of testing standards for databases, application servers, virtualisation, cloud, security in a continuous integration environment
  • Ability to create basic database queries to support testing and manage test data
  • Good communication skills and ability to work at all levels
  • A track record of studying and implementing new development tools and IT equipment, and keeping up with new trends and technologies
  • Experience of test management and reporting using tools  Azure Dev Ops (ADO – test suites) and JIRA  (Zephyr)
