Job Overview:
This position is an interesting and challenging role based in Southampton and covering a geographical area of the South UK Coast. The role is primarily Special Service Craft work for several major clients however survey codes for convention size existing ship surveys would be advantageous. The role will be appointed at Surveyor or Senior Surveyor level depending on experience and skills.

 

Job Responsibilities:
The Job responsibilities are primarily related to Service Delivery for Special Service Craft but in additional there is opportunity to expand the role into other areas such as periodical ship surveying, new construction and Naval work.

 

Job Requirements:
A degree or equivalent from a tertiary organisation recognised by Lloyd’s Register within the relevant field of engineering or physical science (minimum of two years programme) or qualifications from a marine or nautical institution and relevant sea-going experience as a Chief Engineer Officer.
Demonstrable experience and knowledge in Special Service Craft including a previous position of responsibility either as a classification, flag surveyor or equivalent would be desirable. In depth knowledge of GRP and Aluminium construction and repairs, knowledge of REG yacht codes and MCA workboat code.

Preferable but not essential:- ISM/ISPS/ILO qualified or at least a sound working knowledge of marine safety management systems.

Chartered Engineer status is not essential but it is expected that the successful candidate will be working towards Chartered status.

In depth knowledge and experience of classification rules and regulations, SOLAS & MARPOL regulations and other essential statutory requirements for Marine New Construction and Periodical (Hull, Machinery and Statutory) survey work.

In depth knowledge and experience of classification rules and regulations for ship new construction, In depth knowledge and experience in marine repairs, materials and equipment surveys PC literate commercially aware.,

To be aware of corporate Health and Safety policies and procedures,

A full clean UK driving licence is essential.

Applicants must be proficient in the English language and have UK residency and a work permit for the UK.
