As an entry-level Technologist, your thirst for innovation directly impacts the value delivered to customers. The prototypes and products created in our Scrum teams will change how safety is managed in the maritime industry for good.

 

Technologist’s key responsibilities:

  • Assess complex engineering problems where the parameters are not well defined; determine solutions where previous experience does not provide any precedent
  • Work with software developers and subject matter experts to assess big data engineering problems; test engineering hypotheses; perform verification and validation of engineering solutions 
  • Work with software developers and subject matter experts to create digital prototypes and contribute to early product development 
  • Use your creativity and technical expertise to define technical and software specification where there is limited or no precedent; perform independent engineering calculations and expert testing of software output for scientific approval of the digital products, rules or procedures
  • Assist in ensuring that the products, systems and processes are effective, efficient and meet business/commercial requirements
  • Work collaboratively as a development team member; be self-organised; own development work

 

As a Technologist you’ll:

  • Have a qualification in Engineering (Naval Architecture, Structural, Applied Physics, Mechanical, Civil, Industrial etc.)
  • Be a proactive self-starter; self-organised with a team-player attitude; strive to learn more and new skills; be able to roll up your sleeves and help any team member when needed
  • Have knowledge and experience of structural analysis of marine and offshore structures such as Computer Aided Design, structural analysis and verification methods, FEA, structural fatigue, spectral and statistical analysis, offshore analysis, wave loads, responses and seakeeping analysis (highly desirable) 
  • Have knowledge of advanced data analytics techniques such as AI and ML and experience in designing scientific/engineering solutions for the web, Cloud computing (Azure), HPC (highly desirable) 
  • Possess excellent and demonstratable communication and influencing skills, as well as presentation and time management skills  
  • Demonstrate excellent analytical and problem-solving skills 
  • Perform in a high-pressure environment with changing priorities 
  • Take a genuine interest and curiosity for all things digital and data, and for digital transformation of traditional practices in the maritime industry
