Technology Specialist Process Safety

To provide process safety expertise to LR M&O in relation to the design and construction of engineering systems for onboard storage, processing and distribution of low and zero carbon ship fuels in support of the development of LR’s capability and associated products and services related to the decarbonisation of shipping foremost being LR’s Rules and Regulations and supporting procedures, guidance and training.

 

You will

  • Provide process safety expertise to the technology development projects in support of the development of the core technology required for decarbonisation related products and services.
  • Review the results of process safety related activities in support of the core technology required for development of decarbonisation related products and services.
  • Assimilate the results of process safety related activities in support of the core technology required for development of decarbonisation related products and services.
  • Provide process safety input to the technology development plan and roadmap to support the development of the core technology required for decarbonisation related products and services.
  • Disseminate process safety knowledge and experience internally through training, presentation, guidance, advice etc. to support the development of process safety capability within LR and support the delivery decarbonisation related products and services by LR.
  • Communicate process safety knowledge and experience externally through client meetings, workshops, seminars, webinars etc. to support the development of process safety awareness within the industry and support the delivery decarbonisation related products and services by LR.
  • Maintain an up to date knowledge of process safety related developments across the industry and act as external point of contact for process safety matters relating to decarbonisation.
  • Provide process safety representation to industry bodies, industry associations and industry working groups on behalf of LR including regulatory development, standards development, technology development etc. and act as external point of contact for process safety matters relating to decarbonisation.

 

To be considered

  • Significant experience in a production, processing or manufacturing environment working with compressed and cryogenic flammable and/or toxic gases in a process safety capacity, preferably with an OEM, engineering project contractor or energy supplier.
  • Detailed knowledge of risk assessment techniques including HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, SIL etc. 
  • Fully conversant with the safety systems associated with loading, storage, processing and distribution of compressed and cryogenic flammable and/or toxic gases
  • Knowledge of the hazards associated with the handling of compressed and cryogenic gases including hydrogen, natural gas and ammonia.
  • Knowledge of marine and/or offshore engineering an advantage
  • Membership of Institution of Chemical Engineers, Energy Institute or similar.
