We are looking for a Lead Naval Specialist to contribute to the development and growth of Naval business in the Area through:
- Co-ordinating and project managing service delivery for in-service ships for navies through effective liaison with LR and Naval stakeholders;
- Establishing the scope and nature of service delivery requirements and co-ordinating service delivery for in-service ships for the navies of the region through effective liaison with LR and Naval stakeholders;
- Performing duties as an executive member of the Australasian Naval Liaison Office;
- Developing LR and Client staff through knowledge-transfer activities (formal training, mentoring, coaching).
Providing existing and new clients an excellent end-to-end service delivery experience through contract and service delivery management, continual relationship-building and on-going technical and educational (training) support.
You will ideally have the following requirements:
- A degree or equivalent from a tertiary organisation recognised by Lloyd’s Register within the relevant field of study
- Membership of an appropriate professional institution
- Experience as a Classification Society field surveyor and/or as a Marine Superintendent (or related) in positions of increasing responsibility. Direct Naval experience or experience working with Naval and other Government clients an asset
- Thorough knowledge of the commercial regulatory regime, including Classification Society Rules and Regulations, IMO Conventions and Naval national standards. Good knowledge of the Naval Ship Code an asset
- Ability to communicate effectively at different levels within organisations and to influence successfully and openly at all levels, both internally and externally
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to proactively develop a network of key relationships internally and externally
- Commercial awareness and ability to develop strategic action plans based on input from key persons
- Teamwork skills, including demonstrated success promoting a team working environment across an area of the business
- Ability to obtain the required security clearances to perform the role with the Australian Navy
