What we are looking for

 

The Naval Consultant will play a key role within LR Advisory by delivering high-quality naval advisory services to clients across the Australasia region. The role is responsible for supporting naval-focused projects, contributing technical expertise to wider business initiatives, and actively promoting LR’s naval advisory capabilities in themarket.

The Role 

  • Deliver naval advisory projects within agreed broad parameters that include budget constraints and contractual requirements.
  • Discuss / present the deliverable with the internal / external clients and be able to suggest alternative solutions where appropriate.
  • Contribute to client management as appropriate by supporting to manage client and LR relationships.
  • Contribute to identifying naval advisory work, building enduring relationships with clients across Defence, government and industry.
  • Work with the maritime sales and naval service delivery teams to promote LR’s Advisory capability in naval business.
  • Assist with client relationships through the project lifecycle and support other parts of the business with naval projects as required.
  • Perform assessments and provide specialist advice for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Respond to client feedback, ensuring timely implementation of actions and solutions that uphold high standards of service delivery.
  • Undertake administration as required in line with current processes and procedures.
  • Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation, and industry standards.
  • Give technical guidance to other employees as appropriate and disseminate information to achieve knowledge transfer and application.
  • Pursue Continuous Professional Development and maintain a high degree of discipline, knowledge and awareness.
  • Support team members, as appropriate, to build capacity, capability and support networks to effectively leverage knowledge transfer and application.
  • Make recommendations based on internal / external client feedback to assist in service delivery improvement and to help build the business.

 

What you bring

  • A degree or equivalent qualification from a tertiary institution recognised by Lloyd’s Register in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a closely related discipline.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the naval sector, including its operational and regulatory landscape.
  • Some professional experience, with a strong foundation in naval engineering projects.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken, appropriate to the requirements of the role.
  • A high level of professional integrity, analytical rigour and personal initiative.
  • Existing security clearance from the Australian Department of Defence is preferred. At a minimum, the candidate must be eligible for security clearance.
  • Membership in relevant professional institutions and demonstrated continuous professional development through industry courses, certifications or defence-specific training programmes.
