What we’re looking for 

 

  • We are currently recruiting for one Engineering System Piping Specialist or Senior Specialist to join our team, part of the Global technical support office in Lloyd's Register's marine.
  • In Trieste, technical support Office is recognised as a Centre of Expertise for passenger ships and yachts.
  • The well-established and friendly team include internationally renowned technical experts in many engineering disciplines who work together with our colleagues around the globe to provide the highest standards of guidance to our clients and maritime organisations, helping to protect lives, livelihoods and the environment at sea.

The role

  • To perform approvals of ship arrangements and issuance of certification in compliance with the relevant statutory instruments and Lloyd’s Register Rules and Regulations for the Classification of Ships.
  • To support the quality and growth of Lloyd’s Register’s marine business globally by providing technical advice and support to clients.
  • To discuss/ present design appraisal conclusions with external clients and suggest/ influence alternative solutions where appropriate.

 

 

What you bring 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree Mechanical Engineering or Marine Engineering or Naval Architect or an equivalent degree A degree from a tertiary organisation recognised by Lloyd’s Register within the relevant field of engineering or physical science (minimum of two years programme.
  • Knowledgeable of the marine environment up to about 10 years’ experience.
  • Knowledge of engineering systems (e.g piping machinery, etc) and capacity of handling technical complex issues.
  • It will be required to quickly become a proficient user of LR management tools such as SAP Business By Design and Digital Work Bench.
  • Familiar with basic risk assessment techniques and project management
  • Good customer relationship in a project environment with and stakeholder management skills
  • Proficient in English and Italian language

 

 

Preferred but not required

Experience of Design or plan Appraisal/design support or site survey of Engineering systems:

  • Machinery, (Power propulsion and Generation, winches, steering, etc)
  • Piping System
  • Environmental: (Emissions Abatement, ballast water, Marpol in general)
  • Energy Storage (Pressure containment systems)
  • Cryogenic e.g. LNG/Gas propulsion preferably for passenger ships, RORO ferries and yachts
