What we’re looking for

As a Ship Structures Specialist, you will be an integral part of the Technical Support Ship Structures Specialised Ships Team. In this role, you will collaborate with a team of engineers, providing technical expertise to both internal and external clients within the marine industry, specifically focusing on reviewing the structural design of specialized ship structures.

 

With a passion for your discipline, you'll have the opportunity to become a recognized expert in the field and share your knowledge with our clients. A development plan will be established from the outset of your journey with Lloyd's Register to support your growth.

 

We seek someone who enjoys working both independently and as part of a team and who is comfortable representing Lloyd's Register in client meetings, whether in the office or on-site.

The role 

  • Utilize your expertise to perform assessments and provide solutions to challenges faced by internal and external clients.
  • Conduct assessments and offer experienced advice for service delivery, research, or development work within agreed parameters, including budget constraints and contractual requirements.
  • Produce deliverables within the agreed parameters and in a defined format.
  • Evaluate and recommend the time and value of work to be undertaken for an internal or external client within an agreed fee or cost structure.
  • Discuss and present deliverables to clients and suggest alternative solutions when appropriate.
  • Pursue continuous professional development, maintaining a high level of discipline, knowledge, and awareness of the latest updates in your area of expertise.
  • You may also be involved in coordinating and monitoring project progress, ensuring adherence to budget and contract requirements.

 

What you bring

  • A degree or equivalent qualification from a tertiary institution recognized by Lloyd’s Register in a relevant field of engineering.
  • Membership in an appropriate professional institution.
  • Excellent command of English (both written and oral) with proficiency in using relevant professional terminology.
  • Considerable years of experience in Ships/Mega Yachts Structures Design.
  • Passionate about tackling complex technical problems and recommending service improvements.

  • Patient, an active listener, and skilled at identifying root causes of issues and providing effective solutions.
  • Takes accountability and ownership in delivering customer needs.
  • Can self-manage and prioritize tasks to achieve goals.
  • Flexible, proactive, and eager to take initiatives.
  • Communicates in a clear, structured manner and can present technical ideas in a simple way.
  • Shows perseverance in overcoming obstacles.
  • Exhibits strong team spirit, especially in a multicultural environment, and can work both independently and collaboratively with colleagues locally and globally.
  • Embraces learning opportunities, is comfortable stepping out of their comfort zone, and is willing to learn new programming languages and frameworks as needed (training and mentoring will be provided).
