This role requires German and English language skills. Candidates must also provide work authorization for the respective country.

As part of our North Europe team, we’re looking for a mechanical or electrical engineer with a passion for parts and components. You will be part of a team that delivers inspections of on- and offshore installations and marine & offshore components.

The role 

 

  • Item and component testing, working closely with our clients and providing advice.
  • Assessing design/production and in-service aspects of engineering assets, using procedures, experience, and knowledge appropriate for routine situations.
  • Being involved in direct and remote surveys of mechanical or electrical parts and components for use in a maritime or industry environment.
  • Involved in periodical or initial inspections and quality assessments of manufacturer’s works. Presenting deliverables to the client and support with solutions, where needed.
  • Working closely with the local team(s) from Austria, Southern Germany, Switzerland, and Czech Republic providing guidance where needed and further improving the way we work.
  • Have awareness of Codes and Standards: LR Rules and Regulations, Specifications and Procedures, IACS Unified Requirements, EN/ISO/IEC Standards, or other applicable codes.

 

What you bring 

 

  • Degree as mechanical and/or electrical engineer (Dipl. Ing. FH/Univ./TH/UH Or B.Eng./B.Sc./M.Eng./M.Sc. or equivalent)
  • Resident at a wider Linz Area Austria, working within Team Southern Germany, Austria, and Switzerland from your Home Base to serve clients on-site.
  • Ability and willingness to travel mainly within the area above and on a case-by-case basis within Southern Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and occasionally Czech Republic and Hungary.
  • Having a Welding Engineer (EWE/IWE) qualification is an advantage.
  • Useful Qualifications: NDE/NDT ISO 9712 Level II (UT or MT or PT or VT)
  • Knowledge of Vessel Installations and components, including, but not limited to Main Propulsion Equipment and Components (Oil and Gas Engines, Gearing, Diesel-Electric Systems including the required Control Systems, Engine auxiliary Systems and Components), Pumps, Compressors, Pressure vessels and piping, Generators, Electric Motors, Converters etc. is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of Materials, including, but not limited to steel grades, castings, forgings regarding chemistry, mechanical properties, welding, testing etc.
  • Ability and Willingness to further develop knowledge for electrical inspections on Low and High Voltage Equipment
